Secret Sound to Celebrate Long Awaited EP at The Stone Pony

Countless live shows culminate with the release of "Secret Sound", the self titled EP from a staple on the NJ music scene. Guitarist and frontman Kevin Hill says  “We’re ecstatic to share this record. It gelled together very seamlessly - primarily because these songs make up the core of of our live performances.” Like a Secret Sound show, the album features an eclectic mix of styles. From a James Brown funk feel to Daft Punk inspired dance beats, the album is propelled by infectious, smile inducing grooves. There is even a 70’s era Waylon Jennings-esque swamp country song about fishing and racial equality. In addition to Hill, Secret Sound is comprised of bassist Dave Ferraro, Andy Feldman on keyboards, percussionist Bob Larsen, and drummer Adam Alexander, who says “Our rhythm section is a big reason the band gets such a good response. We try to keep people gyrating.” The EP was recorded at Brickwindow Studio and engineered by Erik Anderson.

Secret Sound was born playing the dive bars and legendary clubs of New Brunswick, NJ, a college town that gave rise to many prominent rock acts. Their blend of rock, blues, funk
and jazz was fermented in the seething cauldron that was the jam scene of the 1990’s.
They have now become considered more of an Asbury Park band that is a fixture

at the The Stone Pony. Since making that leap they have shared billings with iconic artists like Dickey Betts, Phish’s Jon Fishman, Dark Star Orchestra, Levon Helm and Johnny Winter.
“It’s been surreal to meet musicians who have had such a huge influence on me personally,” says Hill, “We patterned so much of our songs and approaches to jamming from these people.”
